I finished Catching Chen Qing Ling last night, my thoughts are here.

Still working through He Who Drowned the World.

And they really should have standardized the terms and acronyms.

Yeah, I 100% agree.

Continuing I Am Average and Unremarkable -- busy weekend so didn't have time for much progress, but am now just over a third of the way in. Our chive spirit heroine turns out to have a background that is not simple (shocking for a xianxia, I know). Ditto her fellow youngest disciple of the sect, also a yao, though what of variety hasn't yet been made clear, but he is definitely learning very bad human habits under her influence. And the influence of their sect, which is very much into mooching, grifting, and outright stealing from their larger sect neighbors.

I think of them as specializing in the Dao of Shamelessness -- with, of course, not publicizing that, as that would undermine the long con.

The exact size of the sect is deliberately vague, but based on numbered dropped seems to be five masters and eight other disciples -- a tiny sect, with a lot of (grifted) resources and able to effectively protect the nearby city in their territory.

The Empty Ship continues to be quite an intriguing read as its feminist/anti-patriarchal themes become clearer,, and I like that those are being developed through two extremely flawed-in-an-everyday-way, decidedly unglamorous women.

I started volume 1 of Peerless since Libby finally has it. I'm enjoying it so far (and Faelicy's translation reads pretty smoothly to me). I was kinda jarred by a throwaway line re: horses that's annoying me more than it probably should.

What was the throwaway line? And enjoy Peerless! The main couple have a fun dynamic.

Basically that the envoy's horses had gotten sick and vomited at an earlier point in their journey. Horses can't vomit at all (that's what makes colic so dangerous for them).

Ohh, I see. Yeah, I can see why that line would be jarring!

I finished up I Excavated an Emperor to Become My Wife which I quite enjoyed by the end, although there were some places where the pacing wasn't perfect and I would have preferred more onscreen romantic development (the ghost husband can't leave his tomb, but a lot of the plot happens elsewhere, so a) the couple spends a decent amount of time apart and b) a lot of the time they do spend together is told, not shown)

...did I post this here already? I feel like I posted this already. Maybe it was somewhere else because I'm pretty sure I hadn't finished by last wednesday

I am currently catching up on To Embers We Return and I'm definitely going to be disappointed when I finish all that's translated--I'm glad I left myself a decent group of chapters to read in one go.

I finished Mr. Melancholy Wants to Live a Peaceful Life a while back, I really enjoyed it over all though Highlight for spoilers!*I think I would liked the ending a little more if they kept a portion of their abilities at least. And the extras were focused too much on fat jokes but there were a few small nice scenes in them.*

Tangentially, but seems popular for this comm, I finally started reading the novel for ORV (I have read most of the webtoon, but haven't caught up for the new chapters for about a year).

Also tangentially, I think [personal profile] halfcactus mentioned Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine a while back, I got curious and checked it out also - ended up reading all of the manhwa and the main story for the novel; so thank you for the indirect recommendation.
